Farm Portraits

The South Shore Natural Science Center is pleased to announce the exhibit “Farm Portraits” by Taunton artist Nichole Speciale.  The show opens January 7, 2020 and runs through February 2.  The Opening Reception will be Thursday, January 9, 2020 from 6-8pm in the Vine Hall Gallery.  The public is invited to attend and meet the artist!

Nichole has recently returned to Massachusetts after living in San Diego, CA for 5 years while pursuing her Masters of Fine Arts at the University of California.  While living in California, she fell in love with the fresh, locally grown produce that was readily available at local farmer’s markets.  Upon returning to Massachusetts, she started working with local farms to feed her passion for fresh food, and then expanded her audience through gouache portraits of her favorite produce.  Nichole now has a full line of prints, cards and journals featuring the local produce found in the region.  Through her art, she hopes to help “educate consumers on the joys and benefits of knowing your vegetables, your farmers, and your community.”

The Vine Hall Gallery is a multi-use space that provides a place for local artists to share their artwork depicting the natural world (please call ahead for viewing availability).  Programs and exhibits in Vine Hall are partially funded through a Cultural Investment Portfolio Grant from the Massachusetts Cultural Council.
