Evenings Under the Stars: EUS Orchestra Nicholas Palmer, Conductor

Saturday, Jul 13, 2019 at 7:00pm

Join Maestro Nicholas Palmer and the Evenings Under the Stars Orchestra for their concert Winter, Summer and Ragtime! This yearly season opener concert is a fabulous way to begin a summer of concerts under the stars.

The concert begins with the iconic movements Winter and Summer of Vivaldi’s classic Four Seasons, starring violinist Caroline Turek. Caroline is a former student of SSC’s Duxbury Music Festival (DMF) who won first place in the DMF Concerto Competition in 2014 as well as first place in the Chamber Competition in 2013. Her fiery and elegant playing will make you feel the chills of winter as you soak in the rays of summer under the Jane Carr amphitheater shed! Also in this half is the Handel Suite for Trumpet, with Dana Oakes, piccolo trumpet.

The orchestra shows its versatility in the second half by showcasing early jazz, music such as St Louis Blues from WC Handy, the Tiger Rag by DJ LaRocca, and of course iconic rag music from the master, Scott Joplin.

Bring your picnic or purchase beer and wine on site for an evening of splendid music, all under the stars!
