We've Made a Change! Enjoy Your Library Materials for Longer

We've made a change! Enjoy your library materials for longer.

If you're checking something out from the Weymouth Public Libraries, you might notice something different on your due date slip. We've just made checkout times longer for many items!

Beginning October 3, 2023, loan periods for library materials are:

 - All new books and new audiobooks: 2 weeks

 - Other books and audiobooks: 4 weeks

 - All DVDs: 2 weeks (regardless of whether or not they are new)

 - Magazines: 2 weeks

 - Launchpads: 2 weeks

 - Video games: 2 weeks

The change in loan periods only affects physical items checked out from the library; all of our downloadable books, audiobooks, and video will keep the same due dates.

This change helps make our loan periods more consistent and easier to remember. For example, you'll no longer have to figure out if you have a 7-day or a 14-day new book - all new books will check out for the same length of time. It also gives everyone a little more time to finish what they've checked out. Even though we don't have overdue fines anymore, we know that some patrons have felt rushed to get through a long book before the due date arrives.
