On to the Next Chapter!

Our beloved Courtney Francis has accepted the Assistant Director position at the Provincetown Public Library. (https://trurolibrary.us8.list-manage.com/track/click?u=35ea88bbcca61c539550a0580&id=8ec1bc3e1b&e=a2fadaa1f7) First, let us congratulate our friends at the Provincetown Library for their good judgment. Over the last eleven years, Courtney brought us joy – whether in the form of her Manga-style outfits, ever changing hair color, passion for patron’s pets, or her many wild TikTok productions. We are sad to see her go but pleased to see her career advance with this opportunity.
Please join us in saying goodbye on Wednesday, June 7th
2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

NATURE-ISH, by John Koch
Meet the Artist Reception
Thursday, June 1st
5:00 to 8:00 p.m.

When you see the words “art” and “nature” in proximity, you tend to think of seascapes, landscapes, botanical paintings or drawings and so on. Art more or less explicitly imitating or reflecting the natural world.

Sometimes I do that. A particular configuration of trees in a certain light, a spray of spring flowers, a magical morning sky flooding a vast horizon, might call for close, immediate attention.

But more often it’s the years-long, deep absorption of what the natural world has to offer that informs my work.

Courtney's Farewell Party
Wednesday, June 7th
2:00 to 4:00 p.m.

Sadly, Courtney is leaving the library for an Assistant Director position at the Provincetown Public Library.

Please join us for light refreshments and sweet farewells.

Saturday, June 17th
2:00 to 4:00 p.m.

You have needs—your needs matter. And yet, you’ve been taught that pushing your needs to the back burner is the only way to get things done, that your needs are an overwhelming burden, or that self-care is a luxury you can’t afford. But the presence of your needs is a fact and not a flaw. You can reclaim your energy and give yourself permission to take up space in the center of your own life.

During this interactive two hour workshop, you’ll have the chance to spend time with the person you are beneath the MANY hats you wear each day, learn Mara’s best tools for honing in on exactly what you’ve been yearning for, and leave with an intentionally crafted plan for your next steps.

Space is limited, please register here.  (https://trurolibrary.us8.list-manage.com/track/click?u=35ea88bbcca61c539550a0580&id=5cd5b41b7d&e=a2fadaa1f7)

Hurricane Lizards and Plastic Squid : The Fraught and Fascinating Biology of Climate Change
by Thor Hanson

In Hurricane Lizards and Plastic Squid, Thor Hanson explores the remarkable ways that plants and animals are responding to climate change: moving, adapting, and even evolving. A story of hope, resilience, and risk, sure to be remembered as the defining natural history of an unnatural time.

"Hanson is an affable guide and storyteller, with a knack for analogy, a sense of humor and the natural curiosity of a scientist.” – The New York Times

The Book group is now meeting inside the Library. If you would like to join virtually, please email Maggie (mailto:mhanelt@clamsnet.org?subject=Truro%20Library%20Book%20Group) to receive a Zoom invite.
