STONEHAM - Town Administrator Dennis Sheehan and Police Chief James McIntyre wish to provide the following joint statement:

We understand the concern among members of our community following multiple and separate media reports involving off duty conduct by members of our Department this past year. We acknowledge the legitimate concerns of residents given the extent of the allegations that have unfolded. While the Town is limited in its ability to comment on ongoing personnel matters, both the Town and the Department will continue to take whatever steps are necessary to ensure the integrity of the Department going forward.

It is our belief that these limited instances are not an accurate reflection of our police officers as a whole, who are honest, hard-working civil servants committed to the safety and well-being of our community.

Trust is the foundation of our officers' service to the Town of Stoneham, and they work hard to earn that trust every day through positive interactions in the community and timely, compassionate responses when residents are in a moment of need. We know that our police officers will continue to work every day to justify that faith and confidence.

We would also like to take a moment to express our sincere gratitude to the officers and civilian staff who show up to work each day to selflessly serve our community.
