Millis Public Library Newsletter - September 5, 2023

September 7, 2023

As you know, it rained on August 25th, so we've had to move our Shakespeare in the Courtyard showing of "A Midsummer Night's Dream" to Friday, September 29th at 7pm. We hope you will all still join us for this classic tale at its new date and time!

It's almost that time again! Color and Chill: an Adult Coloring program will be happening this Friday, September 8th at 6:30pm. Come join us for a hour of quiet relaxation before your busy weekend plans and enjoy some 'you' time. Coloring has been proven to help reduce stress, so take a break from your busy life and distract yourself with a variety of new pages waiting for you with soothing music and snacks. (And if you want to come early, the room will be set - the snacks just go out at 6:30!)

Everything you'll need will be provided - just bring yourself! No registration required.

In case you missed it, starting September 11th, we'll be resuming Make-it Mondays! Join us each week for an art program with a different craft each session, specifically tailored for 3rd-6th graders! Make-it Monday requires registration so we can have enough supplies on hand. Please register EACH CHILD separately.

Make-it Mondays start at 4pm, and you can register for the first session here. Check out any future sessions on our event calendar.

It's almost time! On September 15th at 7pm, rain or cool of night, we'll be showing "Macbeth", straight from the Globe Theater in London! Join us for this classic story where in eleventh century Scotland, three witches foretell that our titular character will become King. Macbeth has his lord, King Duncan, slain and is crowned in his place...but that’s where his problems really begin.

Bring chairs or blankets to sit on, snacks, and maybe a friend or two to enjoy a fun evening with this classic works as it was originally performed, direct from across the Pond! No registration required. If it rains, we'll be moving the show inside to the Roche Bros room.

Generously sponsored by the Friends of the Millis Public Library.

It's that time once more! The next Board Game Night is coming, and we'd love to see you there! Join us Thursday, September 21st at 6pm to play your favorite games, learn new ones, and meet new board game buddies in the community. We welcome gamers of all levels and will have a new featured game each month for you to try out. Feel free to bring in your favorite game to teach as well!

Please register so we get a sense of how many games we will need! Contact Rachel at rsilverman@minlib.net  or 508-376-8282 with questions.

Teens! We're hosting a (Teen) Movie Night just for you! Join us Friday, September 22nd at 5:30pm and watch The Little Mermaid (2023) with us! Bring your blanket(s) and we'll provide the popcorn and candy Ariel, a mermaid princess, is curious about all things human. Ariel asks sea witch Ursula to take her voice in exchange for legs, as this is the only way she could explore the human world of Eric, her love interest. Her frustrated father, King Triton, is worried. But her trusted sea creature friends Flounder and Sebastian still watch over her.

Recommended for grades 6th-8th, no registration required.
