Programs for Adults

Summer Reading for Adults: Because YOU deserve prizes, too! 
Grab your "Summer Reading Passport" at any library desk then collect prizes for reading, reading to your kids, attending library programs, and being a community helper.  Passport Activities completed as far back as June 24th count!

Whether or not you participated in the Adult Summer Reading Challenge, you are invited to the Adults Only End Of Summer Social!

Documentary Cafe meets once a month to watch a short documentary (under and hour) while we drink coffee and much on yummy pastries.  Documentary topics vary month to month.

Join our amazing knitting instructor, Cindy, to get some help with your personal knitting project.  If you don't need any help, bring your project and come hang out with other knitters! 

Never knitted before but want to learn? Cindy will teach you! We have all the supplies you'll need to get started.

This meeting will be held at the picnic tables on the lawn by the gazebo.  In case of inclement weather, meet downstairs in the Conference Room at the library and on Zoom. 
Drop in or stay the whole time.

Crafters of all types are welcome at Outdoor Adult Craft & Chat, which will also meet in August. Bring your own craft and your own chair or picnic blanket and come hang out with us under the trees! Don't have a portable craft handy? Bri has embroidery supplies and adult coloring books for you to enjoy.

Give your hardworking brain a break and join us a for an hour of creative play.
Each month we'll do a new activity experimenting with fun supplies and ideas! Follow the assigned prompt or do your own thing. No art or drawing skills are required to enjoy this low-key social gathering. All supplies are provided.

BRING YOUR OWN CHAIR AND MEET AT THE MEDFIELD STATE HOSPITAL GROUNDS. In case of inclement weather, meet inside the library.

Embellish photos with simple embroidery stitches using brightly colored thread. No sewing skills needed, we promise!  Bring your own photos or use the ones provided.  (Black and White photos are extra funky with this process!)

Programs for Tweens & Teens

FOUR SESSION FANTASY WRITING WORKSHOP:  7/11, 7/13, 7/18, 7/20; 3-4PM:

Calling all sorcerers and scribes!  Do you often daydream?  Do you spend your free time reading fantasy novels?  Do you love to write?  Come join Nicole Tichner, a  Hamilton College creative writing major, to learn the steps to writing your own fantasy short story or book!  This workshop will include four one-hour sessions of brainstorming, character creation, finding inspiration, world-building, and writing, designed to help you tap into your inner creativity.  Let us help you craft a story to share with your family and friends!.

STRING CLUB: EVERY OTHER FRIDAY, 4-6PM (7/7, 7/21, 8/4, 8/18)):
Have a sewing/embroidery/knitting/crochet project that you started but can't finish?  Do you want to learn new techniques or teach others what you know?  Then drop in at the library every Friday, and bring a project you're working on or start a new one with friends!  There's also snacks!  All skill levels welcome, no registration needed. Ages 13+.

4-H BABYSITTING COURSE:  7/18 THROUGH 7/21; 11AM-1PM:

Learn the basics of safe, responsible babysitting with 4-H!  This course will prepare you to become capable, caring, and responsible babysitters, teach babysitting safety and how to handle different situations while babysitting, provide a 4-H Babysitting Manual and other babysitting supplies, and provide a babysitter's ID card and certificate upon completion!  

OPEN TO AGES 11-18. YOU MUST ATTEND ALL SESSIONS.

 ONEUP GAMES MINI-GOLF:  WEDNESDAY, JULY 26TH, 6-8PM (AFTER HOURS!):

Join us for Gaming on the Go and LED Mini Golf with OneUp Games!  Grab your friends and play 9 holes of light up mini golf and then play some video games on various systems!  This is an AFTER HOURS event at the library!

PRIDE CRAFTS @ PARK ST. BOOKS!:  THURSDAYS, JULY 27TH & AUGUST 24TH, 4PM - 5:30PM:

There are 2 more sessions of our Pride Crafts series at Park St. Books!  Join us outside in July to use our button-makers to make as many customized buttons as you want, and in August to paint a piece of pottery with any Pride flag colors!

MINI-PIES!:  WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 2ND, 1:30PM - 3PM:

Join Food Explorers for a delicious cooking program!  You’ll make your own mini Lemon Pie and mini Key Lime Pie!  You’ll make your own crust, use the electric mixer to whip together a zingy and creamy filling, and get creative with your decoration. This program is nut free but may contain dairy and eggs.

Ages 10+.  Must register as space is limited.

Join us at the Medfield Public Library to watch the new season of Heartstopper and decorate your own heart-shaped cookies!

Join OUT MetroWest and the library outside for an evening filled with ice cream and karaoke to celebrate the end of summer!  Build your own sundaes and sing your best (or worst) songs!
(WILL MOVE INDOORS IF THERE IS INCLEMENT WEATHER)

Join Chefi - dancer, choreographer, and owner of Simba Dance Academy - for a fun and interactive African Dance Class and Storytelling session. Get ready to dance to a lively blend of beats alongside traditional, contemporary, and Urban movements.  Dance students of all ages are invited to join in the fun! This program will be held outdoors in Gazebo Park.  Registration is NOT required.  In case of inclement weather, this program will not take place.

6:00 p.m.

Chefiatou Tokou will tell us the story of Koyi and her Rusty Dusty Drum and we will discover how one courageous girl changed the story of an entire village!
This story is will be enjoyed by children and adults of all ages.
